IMO, we haven't seen much established Trek yet in the show, so I really do think it stands as a good sci-fi show in the modern day and age.

I have watched a grand total of five episodes.
So far the show appears to be tied to the Star Trek universe, but quite willing to trash every bit of continuity that was in the other series.
Conversely, it refuses to make itself unique enough to stand on its onw.

Yes.
Continuity, schmontinuity. TOS didn't have any damn continuity, and I liked it just fine.

I love some of the complaints: Blaylock's gratuitous sexy stuff...well, since I like women, I've got no problem with this. Second, how many scantily clad chicks did Kirk get it on with in the 60s; they were plenty racy for the times. No one bitched...
It's wrecking continuity. See above. See the TNG, too; there is NO continuity in the universe until DS9, really, other than a few scattered eps that referred to each other.
Captain Quantum sucks. Well...I agree with that one; that's why we see so much of Trip.
It just doesn't feel like Trek. No...it doesn't feel like TNG. Actually, it feels a lot more like TOS. But the character need to be more fleshed out. The extra characters in TOS weren't fleshed out much; just the three main ones. Same here.
Romulans don't have.do...Klingons don't do/have...we never heard of the [pick an alien]. Who says..? The continuity issue? See above.
I hate the ship. Each his own...I love it. I just assume it was a different design philosophy that continued through to the Akira; they're kinda like the retro T-Birds.
I hate the music. So do I...but TOS's theme was f***in' lame, too.
"War is an ugly thing but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feelings which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

I don't think I'd watch Enterprise if it wasn't part of the ST universe, but then again, I think I'd never have watched DS9 and especially TOS if they hadn't been part of this universe either.

I'm with qerlin, too. I'd also like to point out that a lot of the complaints we constantly and repeatedly endure wouldn't even apply if the show were not Trek, so some of the "opposition" would probably be watching it. After all, if it wasn't Trek, the basic storyline could be the same, but the ship designs would be different, the alien names/designs would be different, etc.
As for stories/story quality, some of that's just a matter of taste. I like Enterprise, but don't get me started on Andromeda or Space Above and Beyond. And I know those shows have fans around too.

Well, duh! I have been rationalizing it as one of those alternate universes or parallel realities since the series premiere.
It's the only way I can tolerate viewing the show on a case-by-case basis, otherwise I'll be watching Andromeda (ENT airs late saturday evening on CBS in Hawaii; Rommie on ABC).
FWIW, I have given Braga a chance, and I'm still not impressed.

Frankly, I watch any Science Fiction show I can get my eyes on. Maybe because there are so few of them in France ... it almost looks as if the French TV execs thought science fiction was something to be ashamed of liking or something . For some reason, they seem to consider it a bit like porn or something.
So of course I watch Enterprise, and of course I'd watch it if it wasn't ST. And I'd like it too. All in all, I usually get more frustrated by all the wasted scenaristic opportunities in Farscape than I do in Enterprise. And I really don't think highly of Ben Browder's acting skills. Matter of taste, I guess .

The French don't like porn?
That's a first. It's akin to saying Clinton don't like Big Macs.

I never said that! I merely said that French TV execs are ashamed of having porn on their channel, no matter how lucrative it may be.
I mean, who doesn't like porn? Errr ... on second thought, maybe I shouldn't have asked .

Would I watch Enterprise if it wasn't part of the Startrek universe?
Well basically I have a simple answer to that - I do wath Enterprise despite the fact that I don't consider it Startrek!
I suspect I wouldn't be watching it if the TV networks didn't think it was startrek because it would be on at 3am on an obscure channel, and have been cancelled after a few episodes, like the Ill fated Firefly. NB: I have nothing against Firefly, it's just it didn't have that 'startrek' pull - nor did it catch the right wave to get started. Stargate SG1 wouldn't be here today if it had been unafiliated withthe film, or hadn't caught the right wave - the early episodes weren't that good.
Ta Muchly
Nope.
In fact, I've stopped watching Enterprise and I really don't care if it's Star Trek or not. I find it bland, boring and badly written.
No power in the 'verse can stop me.

Ditto what Joe said. The only sci-fi I need are my DS9 and TNG DVDs.
And maybe some B5.
