I personally liked the new version. The fact that humanity created the Cylons as labor to have them turn on them is a very realistic idea. The use of nukes to destroy the colonies made a lot more sense to me than the use of lasers and Pluton Bombs? The Cylon fighters are a very intresting change that I find appealing. Why waste soldiers as pilots when the fighters can pilot themselves. The characters are far more believeable to me and it will be something to see when they have to start dealing with what has happened and how their lives have changed.
I am wondering how Adama is going to keep the search for Earth up with out revealing the truth. I thought the scene at the end when the President comes into his quarters and he is looking through his books gives a hint that he has already started looking for the info he needs. His reason for the search for Earth and his stretching of the truth is an excellent one and could very well be his end if the truth comes out. But like he said, it is not enough to simply live, they need something to live for.
Also, did anyone catch the Star Trek reference? The ship numbered 1701. My brother said he thought he heard a couple of Space, Above and Beyond references, too.

If I may gon off topic here, Steele, I'd like to make 2 comments about your sig.

    1) I like it, a lot.
    2) you want to replace "your" with "you're". One is the possessive of "you", the other is a contraction of "you are".

    Galactica Options Picked Up

SCI FI Channel has officially confirmed to SCI FI Wire that the network picked up the options for the cast of its original miniseries Battlestar Galactica before they expired on Jan. 31. But the pickup did not signal any official decision about the fate of a possible Galactica series, despite rumors on the Internet to the contrary.

SCI FI said that no decision has come from the network on whether a series will be given the green light.

The Battlestar Galactica miniseries, which premiered in December, was one of the channel's highest-rated programs. Galactica, based on the original 1970s TV show, starred Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Jamie Bamber, Katee Sackhoff, Tricia Helfer and James Callis.

    SCI FI Green-Lights Battlestar

SCI FI Channel on Feb. 10 announced that it has given the green light to produce 13 episodes of a new Battlestar Galactica series, based on the channel's "reimagined" Galactica miniseries that aired in December 2003. The network has ordered 13 one-hour episodes of the show, which will bring back cast members Edward James Olmos (Adama), Mary McDonnell (Laura Roslin), Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck) and Tricia Helfer (Number Six).

Production is slated to begin next month in Vancouver, B.C., the network announced. Ronald D. Moore (Carnivale, Roswell) returns as executive producer. Galactica will be produced exclusively for SCI FI, in association with Sky One and distributed by USA Cable Entertainment, where David Eick, an executive producer of the miniseries, serves as executive vice president.
Please note: 13 episodes, not the initial 6 as previously reported.

    Anyhoo, just some random thoughts...
