"I am considering converting the races to the d20 system, and trying to convert the weapons.. anyone else interested, or willing to help......."
I really hate to be a stick-in-the-mud, but the Star Trek Questions and Mechanics forum is explicitly for "Information on the game mechanics, rules, and general ICON System questions," as stated in the main page of the Discussion Boards. As such, conversion TO the Icon system is on-topic, conversion FROM isn't. The Star Trek Narrator's Ready Room forum is primarily ICON-based, but discussions on running Star Trek RPGs of any stripe are nominally on topic so long as they don't push the ICON stuff out of the way. Of course, anything Star Trek related is on-topic in the Star Trek Chat forum, so I'm going to move this topic over there.
Perhaps we could get some input from the LUG guys on their brief stint as WOTC employees? I know that they were working on a D20 Dune, so I'm sure someone had some ICON to D20 conversion stuff over there.

God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.
Just a question. Is it the WotC D20 system, or a D20 based system? I am working with a variation of the later (but for now mostly for my own, and my players, enjoyment).

"A penny for my thought. A dollar for my silence."
I want to convert to the D20 system, to make it compatable with the new Star Wars rules. I ran into a minor problem, i only have the 2edition rules, for Trek.. I wan to see what ideas people have for convertions..
Here's one suggestion: In the Skill system, remove the maximum skill rank mechanic.
Use archetype form of class: Warrior (for starship commander and tactical/security officers), Explorer (starship commander and away team specialist), Diplomat (starship commander, Ambassador, and Diplomatic Corps), Scientist (starship commander of a science vessel and science officer), Technician (engineers), and Doctor (medical officer and counselor). Avoid using level-based class features. Give them bonus on the first level and determine class skill list.
Utilize Background History Development mechanic (including Tours of Duty). This may allow some cross-class skill list to become class skills.
IOW, make it like LUGTrek and simply change the task resolution system from d6's to one d20.
(Now if I could only put these brainstorm suggestions on paper.)
