Cool Star Trek: Strange New Worlds VII short story contest

Just had to share this since I'm fit to burst.

Thought I'd let everyone know that I was just informed a short story of mine was selected to appear in Pocket Books' Star Trek: Strange New Worlds short story anthology next year. The book will be available in stores in May or June, 2004.

It's titled "Solemn Duty." It's a TNG-era story including a couple of TOS characters.

    *bump*

Shameless reminder. I've been informed that the book has started to appear on bookshelves, so if you're interested, check it out.

Ineti: All congrats. This is an enormous triumph that would be great news in any publication, but is especially sweet when attached to a line that is near and dear to our hearts. All the best.

P.S.: I've heard a rumor that it's the odd-numbered books in the series that are the better ones; any truth to this?

    Thanks for the good words.

And, unlike the Trek movies, I think all the SNW books are good; not just the odd-numbered ones.

Ineti, that, quite simply, kicks major booty! I didn't see the book on my last trip to the bookstore (Saturday), but I will seek it on the web.

Just chiming in to say I've bought the book and read the story.

    It's quite good.

    Excellent work, Ineti!

Well I feel I have rather missed the boat on this one as a rather old thread, I nontheless should still say well done, and if I am in my local store I'll have a look out for the book.

Just read your story Jim. Very nice. Too bad they only accept people over 18.

Are you going to do this again next year?

Yeah, those darn contest legal stuff gets in the way!

I'm definitely shooting for SNW 8. I've already mailed off two stories, and have 6 or 7 more I'm working on. Hopefully one of them will make it in.
