    Revised/Optional Rules and Other Resources

For those interested, Version 6.0 of my Revised & Optional Rules compilation is available for download from my website (http://www.geocities.com/scott_metz) under the LOTR RPG heading. Also available are an Expanded Equipment List, Character Sheet, and quick-print Combat Tracker for opponent stats.

Version 6.0 of the rules compilation features 3 new Edges/Flaws and revisions for 20 Edges/Flaws making them more balanced (so that Warwise isn't such a gravy train, Warrior's Heart isn't pointless, and Dullard isn't a total give-away). It also features rule-rewrites for Power Attack/Two-Handed Attack so that they can actually be useful. Additionally, there is a revision clarifying the benefits of Crafting-spell as well as a simple fix for broken movement rates in "Fell Beasts" (poor Mr. Songbird can now actually fly faster than one mile an hour). Enjoy, and feel free to e-mail me ideas or feedback.

    Compilation Update

For those interested, I have just uploaded the latest Version (8.0) of the Revised/Optional Rules Compilation. It can be downloaded as a MS-WORD document from my website (http://www.geocities.com/scott_metz) under the LOTR RPG heading. This latest version includes the following new items:

    * a new summary section for "Character Creation - Attributes, Skills, Edges, and Flaws" itemizing revisions to prevent starting characters from being "min-maxed" so easily

    * a new "Mounted Combat" sectionwith clearer rules for movement, Ride tests, and mounted attacks

    * a revised "Healing" section that conforms to the forthcoming article in the 'Halls of Fire' webzine, with rules for quicker healing based on degree of success as well as the possibility of infection

    * an optional variant listing for Mounts, with better-differentiated stats for ponies, riding horses, warhorses, mearas, and Elven-steeds, as well as a list of new Mount Special Abilities that can personalize a character's horse

    * an optional variant listing for Races, providing new adjustments and ability wordings so that the races are somewhat more balanced and closer to how they are depicted in Tolkien's books

As always, I'm interested in feedback and open to rules discussions.
