    favorite constellations

What are your favorite constellations? I think my very favorite is Orion, because it's easy to identify from the city. I also like Eridanus because that's where Vulcan is. Cassiopaea is easy to identify with slightly less light pollution. I like Triangulum because that's where Romulus is. I like Mensa because it's obscure, and because I like it I populated Alpha Mensae.

Personally, my favorite is Draco...I have a thing for dragons, I suppose. Orion is a close second.

    Hmmm, let's see...

Ursa Maior and Ursa Minor both rate, just because they were the first ones I learned to identify.

Orion always has a "hopeful" feel to me, although why is hard to define.

And Casiopea (sp?) is just fun!

Beyond that, I vote The Milky Way, viewed just outside the Grand Canyon, stretching open and bright across the entirety of the heavens.

Orion is my ultimate favorite. I don't care very much about the other constellations.
Talking about stellar objects, my favorite planet (ignoring Earth) is Mars. Probably not very surprising.
On second thought, make that Risa.

My favorite constellation is The Switchback. (Cassiopeia, as seen from Alpha Centauri, with Sol adding another step to the "W" (W\)

My favorite star is Betelgeuse - first star to have it's surface directly imaged.

My favorite planet is Nu Cassiopeae IV. For obvious reasons.

Here in Qatar, Orion is almost straight overhead. That's kind of strange for me, since I'm used to seeing it near the horizon.

The Seven Sisters for me. been kinda of a luck charm. When I can spot them.
A brave little theory, and actually quite coherent for a system of five or seven dimensions -- if only we lived in one.
