Please wish me luck. This will be my second attempt; the first ... didn't live long (to quote ST:TMP).

Post Dominion War exploration. They're low level characters (one LtJG and the rest ensigns) in a Prometheus Class ship that does NOT have the multi-mode attack (my excuse being that this system is still being studied, but the basic design of the ship is considered solid.)

So far, it seems to have gone well, but I'm gonna email for feedback tomorrow.

The first episode was a basic planetary survey with a few mysteries...

Hmm curious choice; Why put them on a Promethius class ship and remove the MVA which is the point of it's existence?!

I guess there's nothing to stop them additing it with a few points later on

yes anyway good luck and I hope it goes well for ya! I know how tough it can be!

I have to agree with Tobian here - the multi-mode attack IS the basic design of the Prometheus, not something which can be retrofitted.

Using the Prometheus without the MVA would just be like using the Excelsior without the transwarp-drive. In my mind anyway.

The events of 'Message in a Bottle', the Season 4 episode that introduced the Prometheus, took place in late 2375 or early 2376 -- right around the time the Dominion War was approaching a rolling boil.

But we never say MAM equipped ships fighting in this war. My explanation for this is that the MAM design isn't *quite* ready -- I've decided Starfleet thinks the problem is software, not design, so for now, they're quietly building a few Prometheus class ships, but letting people "find out" that they're not MAM enabled. In fact, they're not, but it's because the function is presently disabled in software.

Depending on how the series unfolds, in a future "season", I may decide to reintroduce this capability (at which point the crew will have advanced in rank enough to be tactically important). Or I may give them another ship.

redwood973 -- if transwarp had lived up to its promise, wouldn't every ship (or at least, every ship large enough) be equipped? I generally consider transwarp to be a failed technology.

Either way. . .there was nothing wrong with the basic spaceframe and although the intended design use did not pan out, nothing is stopping the use of the ships spaceframe.
