Activision did not dump Paramount as much as it tried to hold them hostage for a more favorable (renegotiated) licensing deal. I admit neither side is an angel in this matter, but it is still in court.

I'm not saying that it is the same deal, but it feels simillar. So please forgive me if I have a hard time being positive about this whole affair.
I remember. The Klingon book was imminently due, then there was a delay. Then the announcement came. That was the end of LugTrek.

    Deja vu all over again.

    The books of impending doom:

    • Mirror Universe
    • Klingons

Everyone who has announced to publish those didn't last much longer.

FASA managed to publish the Klingons. And a whole bunch of stuff afterwards.

    Just being pedantic.

GURPS PD published their Klingon book too

Just to continue in the vein of the pedantic.

Anyway, I'm hoping Decipher will publish the remaining books that are finished, but I'm not holding my breath.

The complete lack of communication from Decipher isn't particularly encouraging though.

And I cannot see any logic behind holding back information. They must have some plan on how to proceed, either good or bad for us, but why the secrecy about it?
The absolutely only reason for their current information policy that makes some sense would be that they don't want to publish further material but don't want to scare off people who might still be interested in investing some money into the product line (i.e. buying the core books that are left).
Maybe someone should directly contact Warren Holland (the telephone number for his office can be found on the Decipher website). and confront him about what is going on.

Unlikely you'll actually speak to him.

More likely you'll speak to his PR.

Do you need to know how are they re-organizing their company? If you're a Decipher investor (assuming you can buy Decipher stock on Wall Street), I'd understand, but other than that, it's an internal matter.

Let them do what they gotta do first, then they'll announce the future (or fate) of their RPG venture.

    Thumbs down

    Hmmmm....

Went to my local gaming story today to see if there was anything new for the LOTR game, it has been a while since I've been here, and was told by the manager that they no longer carry any decipher rpgs. When asked why, he said that they got burned with too much LUG stock when LUG died and did not want a repeat with decipher. It seems that they made a decision to not replace any sold decipher product in December.

Well, it looks like I was lucky this time with regards to Trek. I didn't buy into that system.

Perhaps, but as a gamer and a buyer I find it more reassuring when a company is communicative with its fanbase.

I don't care about the internal and sensitive matters at a game company. I just need to know is status of the end product. Is it at the pritners? Is it delayed? Is the line cancelled? Don't care about the reasons; just the status.

Surprisingly, many other major RPG companies are able to communicate with its fanbase without revealing insider secrets; can't see why Decipher can't either.

Perhaps they cannot give you the status of the products at this time. I mean if it has completed one stage of development, then a week later you'll have to ask if it moved to the next stage.

For all intent and purpose, consider all of their RPG developments suspended, until they can resolve their business and financial matters.

I'm glad that other RPG companies managed to move development of their products along and keep the customer apprised of the development. That means their business is operating smoothly, or their company is huge (or a part of a larger parent company) to keep business operation going while in the midst of the restructuring.

I am in a holding pattern. It has gotten to the point where I don't even think about it anymore. Only a few times a week I will check this site to see if anything new has developed. With a little reflection, maybe that is what decipher expected of us. Be mad for a little bit, and then move on.........I don't like the fact that they have said nothing to us consumers who are interested in their product, and just want to know if there is any hope in any additional products in the forseeable future. I know my spelling isn't the greatest, I am typing with a frenzy and don't care if some words aren't right. I am getting a little upset over the delays.

I am proceeding under the assumption that Decipher has ceased publication of RPG material and will return to a card game shop.

If something shows up, I'll take a look at it and make a decision. But I don't expect that to happen.

    b0rked_o.0!!, the whole thing is
A brave little theory, and actually quite coherent for a system of five or seven dimensions -- if only we lived in one.
