The "Daily News" part of this graphic is Futura Black. I used to have this on my PC but do not have it on my Mac.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a free look-alike font?

it looks somewhat similar to the Enterprise font. There's a thread on Star Trek fonts here....

Thanks for the link
But I wasn't talking about the "Crescent City" part (that is Federation Bold) I was talking about the "Daily News" part which is Futura Black. That font is the one I am looking for a look-a-like for.![]()
I thought Mac's could read Windows TTF files
Anyone who still uses Frames for a website should be shot.
Does your sig area really need to be bigger then your post?
They can, but Futura Black costs $35 USD and I would rather not spend that by using a look-a-like![]()

TT converter. Converts PC Truetype fonts into Macontosh format fonts.
At work I only have OS9 so I can't tell you if it works for OSX (or it's version of fonts ?)
But it is free!![]()

Thanks Tobian.
Yeah I used TT Convertor when I was in Os 9 but in OS X you don't need to convert them![]()
So I'm confused, what's the problem? If you don't need to convert them then why can't you just copy them accross and use them?
Ta Muchly
Simple.
I had the font on my PC, but now I have a Mac and do not have the font anymore.
As it is a comercial font I cant just download it again.
Thanks Owen
Much appreciated... much much appreciated![]()
I don't what that font is, but it sure isn't Futura
True Futura looks like this. (See page bottom)
And, BTW, the true name for the "Crescent City" font is Eurostile Bold Extended.
"The American Eagle needs both a right wing and a left wing in order to fly."

that is Futura Black, which is differnet from Futura Bold, Condensed, etc...
As for the other Font, I downloaded it as Federation Bold, so I will certainly take your word for it that the commercial version is Eurostile Bold Extended.![]()
Yeah, modern font creators shamelessly steal names from established font families in hopes of increasing sales. While its not illegal, and is only mildly unethical, it sure is a pain for graphic designers.Originally posted by AslanC

As for the Eurostile family, you can see what the whole line looks like here
