This has been messing with my mind for a year and a half.
Since the beginning of the LUGTrek era in my fan club, the narrators there tried always to have a complete statistic list of the species of the Federation. All the species templates we could have, no matter how stupid or little they showed in the series.
With this in mind, could we check what are the races already covered in:
1- LUG Books.
2- Websites (the very TrekRPG.net, John Stanford's, and others)
3- Own creations not already released to the web.
4- Old threads on these Boards?
So, that's it... at least as far as I know. I'll be back with the 'pending' races. Please only races from canon sources! (names appearing on scripts for them apply, while the actual race showed on screen. All copyrights are property of their respective owners...)

First update: from the already mentioned website, some Federation species with descriptions:
Antos[ian]
Know cellular regeneration, taught that technique to Garth of Izar.
Federation Member (or so it says in the Encyclopedia).
TOS:"Whom Gods Destroy"
Arbazan
Pronounced eyebrow ridges and bumps on forehead.
One was a member of a fact-finding mission to DS9.
DS9:"The Forsaken"
Coridan[ites]
Admitted to Federation in the 2260's.
TOS:"Journey to Babel", TNG:"Sarek"
Corvan[ites] (Corvallan? Corvallen?)
Planet with industrial pollution in the atmosphere.
Stated to be a Federation member in the Encyclopedia. The episode merely mentions the relocation project for the endangered species, the Corvan gilvos (a project difficult on an industrialized world without Contact, but possible for a non-member world that applied for help).
The two alternate spellings above have been used to refer to traders and a freighter, respectively. Possibly variants of the planet name.
TNG:"New Ground" (Corvallan traders from TNG:"Inheritance" and TNG:"Firstborn", Corvallen freighter from TNG:"Face of the Enemy".)
Delb[ians]
From the planet Delb II.
Admiral Satie's aide was from this planet.
TNG:"The Drumhead"
Elaysians
With a large triangular hump on the forehead extending to the bridge of the nose, they are remarkably humanoid despite being adapted to a gravity so low that they can actually fly on their homeworld.
DS9:"Melora"
Hekarans
Only inhabited planet in the region of space containing the Hekaras Corridor, which separates them from the rest of the Federation.
TNG:"Force of Nature"
Ramatis[ians]
Famed Federation mediator Riva.
TNG:"Loud as a Whisper"
Rhaandarites
Enterprise bridge officer
(name from costume department)

I know there is an Elaysian template out there... If you have a template for any of these races don't doubt to publish it here
Always happy to oblige. Heres the Elaysian template...
Species Template: Elaysian
By Dan Gurden
A humanoid race bearing a striking resemblance to Humans, their smooth forehead ridges and inability to tolerate normal gravitational strain most easily identify Elaysians, however the Elaysian bone structure is a honeycomb structure not unlike Avian's, leading to strong yet light bones. Coming from a planet with very little gravity Elaysians in their natural habitat seem to fly, as will any visiting off-worlders.
They are fiercely proud and often headstrong. Making good if somewhat impulsive members of the Starfleet.
Typical Advantages/Disadvantages
Physically Impaired (Gravity intolerant) (-2), Remedy (+1 or +2), Zero Gravity Training (+2)
Notes
I use the Disadvantage ‘Physically Impaired’ very loosely here, Elaysians do not consider their gravity intolerance a medical condition. In the case of the Elaysians ‘Physically Impaired’ means that under any gravity condition higher than their norm, they find themselves trapped and unable to move, or worse, crushed under their own weight.
· Within Starfleet, a number of ways have been designed to enable the few Elaysians within Starfleet to function normally alongside their crewmates. Most opt for a low power bionic frame and wheelchair/hoverchair for everyday use setting the environmental controls in their quarters for their planetary norm. (1 point remedy)
· Genetic therapy is also available, created by Dr. Julian Bashier, however as a result, any Elaysian that successfully undergoes this therapy will be unable to tolerate their planetary gravity again. (1 point remedy)
· Lastly a full bionic frame is available enabling the Elaysian to enjoy both a full and active life and still return to their natural gravity when they wish. (2 point remedy)
The homeworld was (I believe) never mentioned, and so I have stuck to Elays.
It should also be noted that Melora Pazlar was the first Elaysian to join Starfleet, so it's unlikely that any PCs will have served more than 1 or 2 tours, as she was only an Ensign or Lt.(jg) in 2370.
The Algolians. While it was never stated that they are part of the Federation, they participated in the biannual Betazoid trade conference and at the Tagus III Federation Archeological Council's annual symposium. THey wer eregular visitors to DS9 during it's first year under Federation and Bajoran control.
The Antideans. Negotiating to become members of the Federation when Lwaxana Troi exposed anti-membership assassins .(http://www.startrek.com/library/xeno.asp?ID=70541).
The Bre'ellians.(http://www.startrek.com/library/xeno.asp?ID=70561)
Questionable are: the Bynars, Delbians, Exocomps, El-Aurians, Nanites, (http://www.startrek.com/library/xeno.asp?ID=70583).
Let's begin. The template for the Coridanians, supposedly admitted into the Federation thanks to Ambassador Sarek's intervention after 2267 (TOS, Journey To Babel)
To be frank, I'm being pretty dogmatic with the template, provided that all we know is that Coridan was a minery power, they exported dilithium, and they were being blackmailed or attacked by the Orions (thus, Bold, to reflect the resistance against the huge commercial Orion empire). Opinions?
Bold (+1)
Contact (Merchant or Underworld) +2
Intolerant (Syndicate) -2
Wanted OR Wrongfully Accused -2
Species Notes: even after a century, Coridan still has a reputation for being a hotbed of smuggling and corruption. Conversely, many Coridans are being known for reckless pursuit of justice, or freedom. The typical Coridan is a brash independant pilot or a driven, somewhat embittered security type.
Coridans from TOS era have a 70% chance of having a breathing difficulty (+1 medical condition) from Orion Strip mining. As such the wear special breathers.
TNG and just prior have no medical condition, and penalties are at -1, the other -2 points are in Code of Honour Merchant or Pirate at -2
Many are Bajoran Sympathizers and later, Maquis.
DS9 Early years, a Maquis hotzone. During the
Dominion war (when our campaign occured) use above template. All Coridan Citizens are members of the Coridan Military, or attached to Starfleet. After the Dominion Attack on Coridan, 90% percent of them were recalled to the Home Systems. Any such Coridans are at -1 on persuasive rolls when meeting any Starfleet or Klingon personnel until they "prove" they are not cowards rebels or misfits with three consecutive charisma skill rolls (diplomacy, mediation or charm) that further the mission goals
Coridans are medium weight and slightly above average height, black hair for males reddish brown for females, and eyes are a dull red or brown, lighting up red when agitated, upset, or concentrating.
Skin ranges from light to deep tan, with females usually lighter.
Play notes: You feel a deep spiritual connection to the universe, either luck or divine influence, but you deny it to outsiders. You love life but will risk it recklessly for a cause. Sometimes you need a little moral flexibility for the greater good, but Vulcans taught you the needs or the many outweigh the needs of the few, and the Orions, and later the Ferengi taught you that people are often willing to pay for it.
Fast ships, hot cargo, or tough piloting is all Coridan needs to feel content.

"Mission? what mission?"
"Save the galaxy."
"AGAIN?!?!?!?!"
While it's great that we have all these races it's a bugger when we have to name shed loads of NPC's !
Has anybody got any hints & tips for coming up with authentic sounding names for some of these races ? I'm thinking of the lesser used races like Benzite, Bolian etc.
------------------
From the People who brought you Rough Guide To the UK
I find that a phonebook is an excellent source for names (preferably one for a large, multicultural city). If you require less Human-sounding names, shifting a few letters around should do the trick.
In pair with the phonebook Steve recommended, a good guide for the kinds of sounds some cultures should use for their names are in the Players Guide (for Benzites, Zaldans, etc) and in the Planets of the UFP book (for Bolians, Centaurians, etc).
Someone suggested a baby naming book, which has the dual advantage of supplying LOTS of names and providing an intreresting addition to any roleplayers shelf.
The other thing is to copy styles seen on the shows...
For example many Vulcan names are either 5 letters long beginning in S and sometimes ending in K, which in most cases is a male name, while female names commonly begin with a T' sound...
In the above case this is not always the case, Savikk for example, but it does give a rough idea for a place to start.
Using this model, I have been working on Trill names, we had Curzon, Jadzia and Ezri for the Dax hosts...
This led to my old Trill character Leixon Wex, which was actually a bastardisation of my Best Friends name Lee Weeks. Likewise the Half Bajoran/Cardassian NPC in my current game Woy Lizanne is his fiance Elizabeth (Liz) Anne Way... Adjusted for the Bajoran Tradition of using the Family name first.
Just an example of how real world names can be adjusted into the trek mdodel. All it takes is a little book-keeping of character names, which is where the Encycliopedia comes in handy.
