    NOTES

The Antares-Class Cruiser was designed to be a solid exploratory vessel that could complement the fleet of Constitution-Class Cruisers. The Antares is a smaller design and is not as heavily armed as the Constitution as it was intended to be deployed mainly within charted Federation territory. To achieve its exploratory mission the class was equipped with the best sensor suit of its day. The class was also noted for its rugged design, as many critical systems were reinforced, including the structural integrity fields and the shielding systems.

Due to the mysterious disapearance of the Organians in the 2270's Starfleet feared renewed Klingon aggression. For that reason many classes were upgraded and the Antares was one of them. The most notable changes were the upgrade of the sensor systems, making them the most advanced in the fleet at the time. That trait made the upgraded Antares an ideal ship to search for cloaked Klingon or Romulan ships; the Klingons having obtained cloaking technology from their Romulan allies. The warp drive was also slightly upgraded. More phaser banks and an extra torpedo launcher were added, significantly boosting the Antares' offensive capabilities. The shields were also upgraded to Starfleet's highest standards. All of those improvements somewhat negated the upgraded SIF of the original Antares but critical systems such as Operations and Life Support were further hardened. With all of those upgardes, most Starfleet analysts at the time agreed that the Antares could take on a K'Tinga-Class Cruiser and win.

Looks nice, although I didn't envision the Antares as a cruiser at all...at least, not a cruiser in mission profile...I was thinking it was a transport of some kind.

It' supposed to be an "explorer" but only ships sizes 6+ can be explorers or exploratory cruisers so that's why I settled on "cruiser". Like the Miranda; my view is that its primary mission is scientific but both FASA and CODA call it a cruiser.

Howdy all,This is my 1st attempt at writing up a ship within the CODA rules.as I've said in other areas heres about I'm a FASA player, but I,m trying to run my 1st CODA Trek game.I'd been to that site a couple years ago & really liked the concordance pic(though I don't remember it from that book.oh well most days I can't remember what was lunch at dinner time. )Please be kind as I'm still learning the rules & I know I probly made a bunch of mistakes on it.I went with the discription from Charlie X of the Antares as a scout. So with out further ado my version of the .....

I'm hoping the lack of a critique of the write-up means I did a good job. When I frist did the write-up it was w/ the FASA rules. It was smaller than what the web site gave for tonnage(a little over 62,000 tons)
