The L-13 Fat Man was the Empire’s first attempt at constructing a dreadnaught. Eight ships went into construction but after the fourth entered service it was determined that the ship was only as capable as some cruisers and frigates already in service.

In 2264 the first refitted L-13 entered service and was considered a vast improvement over the original. The old K-GDM-3’s were upgraded to the newer K-GDM-4’s and their number was increased to improve the ship’s poor coverage. Shield strength was also improved.

With the other powers upgrading their vessels the klingons followed suit and released a final upgrade in 2276. The addition of torpedoes vastly increased the L-13’s ability to target vessels at long range. Following the technology exchange with the Romulans the L-13 was fitted with a cloaking device, making it the largest vessel in the Klingon fleet space so equipped. The warp engines also saw an improvement making the vessel relatively swift for its size. The ship will stay in service well into the next century showcasing Klingon might in dealings with the other galactic powers.

A very good design, But, forgive a question from someone who refuses to buy the Starships book. In the latest version you have the disruptors with a rel. code of D, but in the middle version they have a Rel. code of C for the same weapon type and number?

    No problems Phantom.
Becuase with the addition of torpedoes you add them together to get the reliabilty.
