Thread: Species wishlist

  1. #1

    Species wishlist

This thread is to see what Star Trek races for which you would ike to see statistics? Please, feel free to make suggestions from any Star Trek media (episodes, movies, novels, comics, computer and video games, other RPGs, etc.)

And, thanks to Perrryyy, I will clarify. This is a wishlist of what species we'd want to see in Decipher Star Trek RPG. Also we should probably avoid those already used in Decipher and LUG Trek.

Well, it doesn't surprise me much to find such a large comprehesive list...

As for the wishlist... All I care about are the major races, and that the basic template is easy enough to construct new templates (or whatever they use)... Can anyione say if this is so???

That way the minor races that seem to be listed here would be an easy matter to create. Hell, I already made a bunch of these in ICON, and if the conversion system is THAT easy...

Also, from the 'what bugs me' thread. Cross species? Does anyone know how easy this will be? Will we get the full species and an advantage as in ICON, or are we going to be dealing with new or alternate templates?

Races I'd like to see some focus on:

Andorians (incorporating any new stuff from ENT)
    Tellarites (as above)
Any of the races from The Motion Picture and the later movies (Betelgeusans and Arcturians for example)
Races from the Animated Series (Caitian, Kzinti, that sort of thing). Yes I know there's a problem with most of those races due to licensing problems (The Kzinti for instance) but you can always call them something else (weren't LUG going to do that with the Caitians?) to bring the stuff out. And then we can call 'em whatever we like in our campaigns

I'm not that interested in a Klingon sourcebook myself, but I suspect it'll be a good seller (especially for the more casual fan, or people new to Trek gaming).

Background material-wise, I can pretty much produce what I need for any of the major races. What I really want to see is basic rules and ststs for creating those races (Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, etc) and more in depth information on the less well-known species. But I guess that might not sell as well.

    Anyway, just my tuppence worth

    Me neither.

And this would be why the fans aren't solicited for a list. ("Oh, so basically you want it all with detailed write-ups in one book for under $20? No problem.")

Well I certainly wouldn't expect 'em all in one book

I'm quite happy with what I've heard is in the PHB and upcoming NG. But I'd like to see a lot of those other (practical) races in later supplements.

    Andorians and...

All the species from all the films...and Andorians
All the species from all 4 (Eventually 5) TV Series...and Andorians

    Seriously though,

My biggest complaint about licensed SF RPGs is that is takes them too long to get to the books and information I need. I need the stats on the species that appear in the license - as many as possible - pure and simple. I really don't like making the stats for something like a canon alien just to see them come up with the info on how to play them 6 months to a year into my campaign.

If your going to make Trek, give me Trek info. Don't start me off with non-canon aliens or non-canon ships. If you provide a system to create my own, I will. Give me what I don't need to make up, i.e. the things that have already been created. I need to know what those are and what they do.

Provide me with the tools...I'll do the rest.

Hey, this is from some ideal world. :-) I figured it would be something to do until the book gets released.

What we need is a polling feature with 100 slots and one can vote for a maximum of 10 choices. That ought to narrow it down enough.

My wishlist is for all those aliens in Rura Penthe and the alien shapeshifter (she says what she is when they setup camp though I can't remember).
