No Daleks In New Who

Hmm well really it has to as he is half Dalek whenever we've seen him! I'm not totally sure on the back history, I can't remember if he invented them or not, but he's certainly the person who's pivotal in their swathe of destruction accross the universe, so I can't see much point in including him, unless perhaps they could find him at an earlier stage (before he did the whole Dalek thing) just being a regular evil genius and homicidal maniac :D

He might also be included within the whole intelectual property issue of the Dalek's too.

Davros indeed "invented" the Daleks using the Kaled (his own species) as a basis and projecting them to what he saw as their ultimate evolution through what basically amounted to genetic engineering, but removing all those irritating positive traits. Of course, they also were physically weak, but then so was he so that didn't matter; he used the same technology that he used in his chair to create their shells.

I would like to see the Sontaran/Rutan conflict expanded on. The Sontarans have proven themselves a worthy enemy, since (to my knowledge) no other aggressor race in the Dr. Who mythos ever invaded Galifrey, except the Sontarans. :)

I could do without the Daleks in a new Dr. Who, as long as a good background story was offered. Perhaps a Coalition of the all the races the Daleks subjugated finally fought back and destroyed enough units as to make them a lesser power.

Well the Daleks must have eventually been destroyed because otherwise they would be ... masters of the universe and would own Galifree :D

I wonder how far the prohibition against the use of Daleks would go.... can they not be mentioned by name or must they be mentioned only by vague wording if at all "There were a bunch of little dictators in salt-n-pepper shakers around here but we finally got rid of them for good..."

I think that it might not be a bad idea to have them destroyed as a part of canon, even if you don't really mention them outright. Have it be an effect of someone going back and actually accomplishing what the Doctor tried and failed to do: eliminate them at the source (temporally-wise). Then you have something that vaguely looks Dalek-like appear on camera (like a worker drone in some advanced culture that is totally mechanical but has a shape that suggests the Daleks) and the Doctor says "That reminds me of something... but I just can't seem to place it..." As a result of their defeat they have essentially been erased from time altogether and no one even remembers them anymore.

As a true test of Whovian knowledge (which I do not pretend to have in abundance) what kind of effects would that kind of 'fundamental erasure' have on events in the Whoverse Time scheme? In other words, what kind of conflicts do those lil'nightmares get into that might have been resolved differently based on their absence?

From what I can recall, the Time Lords would still know what happened. I thought that their knowledge (at least their collective knowledge) was beyond the effects of the time stream.

I seem to remember that the Doctor often knew that something wasn't right when he traveled to a place that was out of sync with the reality he remembered.

Well, let's see what I can remember, or find in a quick scan of FASAs Dr. Who;
-the war between the Kaleds and the Thals would have ended very differently.
-the War between the Daleks and the Movellans would never have happened. Hey! The Movellans would be a good villian race.
-The Marie-Celeste would have made it to its destination.

-and 4 major Dalek invasions of Earth would not have happened.

Generally, the universe would have been a much nicer place.:D
