now you are begining to see why I don't use them.
There is nothing about the basic attributes scores that a given species couldn't have, but the edges would vary, such as Vulcans: Logic +1.
I think it is pointless in trying to quantify any NPC that doesn't have a lasting position in your campaign. Either I don't make rolls for them at all; or if, in fairness to the players, I must; then I assume Attribute 2, skill 2; or for a Higher level character, Attribute 3, skill 3 or 4.
with NPCs being att 2, skill 2; players quickly learn to rely on themselves; just as I quickly learned not to get bogged down in stats.

I use the same deal myself. although keeping the basic species template/career overlay skills and levels.
Its only when the players or I take an interest in the NPC that it receives any further fleshing out... This also has the added advantage of explaining any sudden replacements when a favoured NPC is replaced by a new/replacement character that makes it redundant...
