Nope. The first nuke surface ship was the aircraft carrier Enterprise, the first nuclear cruiser was the Bainbridge, and the Navy built four more, named after states. (South Carolina was one, I remember...she used to be moored about halfway down the dock from us).Quote:

The Navy used city names for her Los Angeles-class nuclear hunter-killer submarines...of the 40-odd ships of that class, none were named Long Beach.
I think the only reason I called the ship the Long Beach was that the Navy had a base there (it was closed in the 90's). It's still embarassing...:rolleyes:
