    Arrow Narrator Talk: The Beginning

For those of you out there who have been following this Sim turned Game, you have learned that Raets volunteered to be the new Narrator, and that the game has been on going since that time. Futhermore, the lack of opertunity on this string is due to the fact that all Inship actions and all actions that shouldn't be persieved by the others have started to take place via email (Actually, in my tracking, and my records, we have reached 53 pages of dialogue & actions on the Vanguard alone!).

However, through out this time, we have had little to no reactions from Narrator Raets during game play. Now, I'm not saying that we are looking to replace Raets, but we are actually very much looking forward to being able to have him Narrate for us. And this should serve as a notice to him that we are waiting on his participation.

Me and others involved will keep the public aware of events as they unfold.

    To Sir Sig:
Just don't over hype those shuttles, I don't wanna see anything to unrealistic like size one shuttles that are armed with Plasma Torpedoes and can have a sustained speed of Warp 9.99995. But I don't expect that from you as you are rather level headed and logical concerning things.

    Arrow Reply to Vaebn

    OOG-

This is no longer a Simulation as it has become a full fledged game.

Therefore, if one were to be able to keep confidential about the substances that lies with in the file that contains all the compiled emails, it may be possible for it to be released to you.

However, I will ask that you get personnal approval from at least the CO & XO of the Vanguard. If you are able to do this, and they do tell me to confirm that they approve, I will be more then willing to get this email to you.

But if you are interested in taking up one of the open positions, as there are many, you will then, once approved, recieve the file.

Unhappy Look, I'm still here but....

I do have assignments, test, skills training and other stuff. Every time I check the mailbox, there's an hour worth of roleplaying waiting for me. I'm in this to make sure the sim runs smoothly and stays honest. I'm not sure how or when I should narrate your 'briefings'. I haven't even heard from the Romulans.

Not giving up quite yet, Robbert.

Glad to see that you are still with us.

Now while we are certainly having fun with the roleplaying part, there are some things in those 'briefings' you should IMHO comment on.

We need you to tell us if some of our ideas are just not feasible with the means at our disposal, if our 'timetables' for the things we want to do seem reasonable to you, etc.

There is a lot of IG planning for the upcoming confrontation with the Romulans in our e-mails and you should be aware of that. We need some feedback from you to see if those plans can or can't be used. Our characters would know that, but as players we need the Narrator to tell us.
Telling us in the middle of the battle that an idea we worked on for weeks just doesn't work would be a bit unfair, at least if our characters should have known this from the start.

And if we proceed on the assumption that you have no comments unless you explicitly tell us could possibly lead to the unfortunate situation where we would have to 'retrofit' some (or a lot) of the roleplaying part.

A few lines from you here and there, like "xxx won't work, because you lack the necessary equipment" or "this will only take half the time you thought" would be just fine.

What do you mean no Rom feedback?

ooc: Seylar's just waiting for somebody to rescue her, so someone find that poor woman!

ic: The distress beacon still sounded out into space, and Seylar still waited. A few of the lifeboats had joined together to make a larger target to find.

Her mind kept mulling over who it would be best to be rescued by, it had currently settled on the Federation. She might even do something to win herself back into the Empire's graces.

    Rescuing the Roms.

OOG - In the shipboard communications, as far as I know we have retrieved ALL romulan life pods, and have finished 'sifting all of you'. We presume you are hiding amoungst your crew. Currently the survivors have been searched, healed, and completely stripped of ALL equipment. You were all on the flight deck being processed, then escorted to SECURED, modified, standard extra crew quarters, two to a room.

Is this a game or sim?

Why didn't I hear about any of that?

If this is a game we should be open with what's going on everywhere. I'm sure everyone is capable of keeping track of where their characters are and not popping up places without an in character reason.

We should set up an egroup or something since this thread is getting so large.

Now can I see the messages leading up to the rescue to present, and perhaps I can get things together again.

OOG - Revealing In Ship communications.

Granted Pesterfield, you are entitled to know what is going on in ship concerning you and your crew, however, the file I have covers ALL in ship communications and is now 1MB unzipped and 50 plus pages long.

Therefore, you will have to act as if what you aren't suppost to know, you have NO idea of, or someone would have to censor the file and THEN send it to you.

Furthermore, I think the CO & XO should be reached for approval of either option.

    CAG out.

    This poses a problem.

That's a lot of stuff. I think Seylar would at least know she'd been rescued, and know everything that happened to her since.

Why didn't anyone send me that stuff when it was happening?

Eventually we need to think of the long term goal, a game or another combat sim. We've all decided game, so why have another Romulan ship and all this secrecy?

We're playing at the same time we're making decisions about the game, hard to do but hopefully everything will be worked out.

    Question Seylar's status

Okay, I see a need for some clarification.

Pesterfield, we've been waiting for our Narrator to tell us that we've picked you up and you've been waiting to hear that you've been picked up. I did NOT know that you were broadcasting a distress beacon in clear (perhaps I missed that somewhere).

We have retrieved and processed all of the Romulan survivors that we've found, so far.

    Since you're broadcasting in clear...

    IG-

"Bridge to Commander Powers. Sir, the Pournelle reports picking up a very faint distress reading near the edge of the belt. They are making their way there now for pickup."

(Another survivor?) thought Shannon, (I thought we picked up all 57 survivors. There must have been at least one more pod.)

"Roger that, Bridge. Inform Captain Marques and Commander Lipumano. Message the Pournelle to make all due haste."

Time passes. Commander Shannon Powers is Officer of the Watch. Ops gets her attention.

"Commander, the Pournelle signals that they've made pickup on a gaggle of Romulan escape pods in a dense cluster of asteroids. Ensign Sims reports that the cluster prevented prior detection of the pods and that they've beamed four more Romulans onboard. Sir, one of them is Commander Seylar!"

"Seylar herself?" exclaimed Powers. She keys the intercom. "Captain Marques, I'm very sorry to disturb you sir, but the Pournelle has just recovered Commander Seylar! We should have her onboard in an hour and a half. I'll see that she is taken care of as we discussed."

Commander Powers sat back in the center seat and contemplated the idea of having their former opponent as a 'guest'. (This ought to be very interesting!)

    OOG-
    Okay everyone, how's that?

Sounds great. But I'm wondering if we should do the 'talk' between cmdr Seylar and capt Marques via email or the boards.

Let's stick to email. Having some part of the game on the board and some of it in email doesn't strike me as a good thing.

Plus what Seylar tells the Captain (or doesn't) could become important in our confrontation with Commander Sigimus, so let's keep it among the Vanguard crew for now, ie. in email.
