    Luna Class (U.S.S. Titan NCC - 80102)

    Luna-class Explorer

    U.S.S. Titan - NCC - 80102
    Commissioned: 2378

    Size: 7
    Length: 450 meters
    Beam: 225 meters
    Height: 103,5 meters
    Decks: 20
    Crew: 350

    Space: 89 (space used 88)
    Structure: 35

    OPERATIONAL SYSTEMS

    Operations Systems
    Class 3 (7 space used)
    Reliability D

    Life Support Systems
    Class 4 (8)
    Reliability E

    Sensors Systems:
    Class 5 (5)
    Sensor Bonuses: (+5/+4/+3/+2/+1)
    Reliability F

    Transporters: 3

    Shuttlebays: 1 (2)
    [7 size worth]

    Tractor beams: 2 (1)

    PROPULSION SYSTEMS

    Impulse Drive:
    FIG-5 (6) [Rating .92]
    Reliability D

    Warp Drive:
    LF-41 (5)
    Warp: (6 / 9.2 / 9.6)

    Beam Penetration: 6 / 5 / 5 / 0 / 0

    Missile Weapons:
    Multifunction Torpedo Launchers
    Mk 95 df 2x (14) (OV 10)

    Photon Penetration: 5 / 5 / 5 / 5 / 5

    Quantum Penetration: 6 / 6 / 6 / 6 / 6

    Defensive Systems:

    FSS* (13) 17 / 5

    Shield Defense Rating: 17

    Shield Threshold: 5 (3)

    Reliability E

    Maneuver Modifiers:
    Command: + 2
    Helm: +/- 0
    Tactical: + 3

    NOTES:
I have not build a Starship in a long time.
I have given this class a very high rating of Life Support due to the fact that the Titan has a lot of specialized crew quarters.
It uses the same proven warp drive system that powers a Galaxy class starship and features a slightly better shielding system than an Intrepid class explorer (higher threshold).

    Any comments?

She seems pretty reasonable to me, especially with all of those specialized quarters. With the module I'm working on the for the board, plus running a SW game I just haven't had the time to work on her.
A brave little theory, and actually quite coherent for a system of five or seven dimensions -- if only we lived in one.

Looks nice. But I can't really say because I didn't read those books yet.

Take your time and tell me what you think after you have read them.
I have so far read only the first "Taking Wing". I rather liked it...

The new book has some more data and drawing of the ship in it.

Not to mention it being, IMHO, one of the nicer covers a Trek novel's had in a good while. I wasn't altogether sure when the thing was announced, but looking at the cover, that's quite a pretty ship. I might have to end my boycott of the 24th century and give those books a shot.

If anybody's wondering, according to the same book, there're 12 Luna-Class ships:

Luna, Titan, Amalthea, Io, Callisto, Charon, Oberon, Europa, Rhea, Galatea, Ganymede, and Triton.

All moons in the Sol System.

Of course, since there's 170 known moons in the Sol system alone (assuming by the 24th century they haven't discovered any more planets or moons), that could make for a fairly large fleet.

Will anyone bother (who has the newest book) to give the stats another go?

I tend to treat the Titan as a Promethous Class, like in Decipher's Starships.

I don't think that does the Luna justice...

I could always use it elsewhere for my continuity...

After reading 2 books I made a version of this starship class for my RPG game. I liked your version, but I augmented the Sensors a bit more. I think you also made a small fault in the Space section, You have 99 space instead of 89.
What do you think of this version.
    Luna-class:
    Exploratory Cruiser (CEX)
    Commissioned: 2378

    HULL DATA:
    Structure: 40 (5 Ablative Armor)
    Size/Decks: 7/20
    Length/Height/Beam: 450/103/225
    Complement: 350

    TACTICAL DATA:
    Phasers: Type XI (x3, D)
    Penetration: 5/5/4/0/0
    Torpedo Launchers: Mk95 DF (x2, D)
    Photon Penetration: 5/5/5/5/5
    Quantum Penetration: 6/6/6/6/6
    Deflector Shield: FSS (Regenerative) (E)
    Protection/Threshold: 17/5

    PROPULSION DATA:
    Impulse System: FIG-2 (0.9 C) (C)
    Warp System: LF-50 mod 1 (9/9.5/9.9) (C)

    OPERATIONAL DATA:
    Atmosphere Capable: No
    Cargo Units: 70
    Cloaking Device: No
    Life Support: Class 5 (F)
    Operation System: Class 4 (Bio-Neural) (E)
    Sensor System: Class 5a (+7/+6/+5/+4/+3) (C)
    Separation System: No
    Shuttle Bay: 1 av
    Shuttle Craft: 7 Size worth
Tractor Beams: 1 fv, 1 ad
    Transporters: 3 Standard, 3 Emergency

    MISCELLANEOUS DATA:
    Maneuver Modifiers: +2C, +1H, +2T
Edges: Advanced Laboratory, Ablative Armor, Bio-Neural Computer, Enhanced System "Sensors".
    Flaws: Intricate Systems “Operations"

    NEW EDGES & FLAWS:

    Advanced Laboratory:
Your Starship comes equipped with the latest scientific instrumentation and advanced laboratories that race has to offer.
Effect: Considered well equipped for purposes of scientific research.

    Bio-Neural Computer:
Your Operations system operates with Bio-neural gel packs that speed up response time.
Prerequisites: Class 2 or higher Operation System.
Effect: The ship gains the following advantages.
-+1 bonus on Computer Use tests, and Reduce computer calculation time by 10%.
-+1 bonus on System Operation Speciality Tests. The specialty can be changed after you’ve selected this edge, doing so
requires a System Engineering (Computer) test TN 20 and 1 day of work.
Disadvantage: The computer is susceptible to viral infection, and when the operation system gets a damage box it can only be repaired if they have spare Gelpacks. Gelpacks cannot be replicated, and a starship needs 3 gelpacks per Reliability modifier (normally a ship carries a number of reserve gelpacks).

    Intricate System:
One system aboard the ship is particularly complex: either because space was limited and the machinery had to be set up in an unusual way, or simply because the system is very complicated, if it's experimental for example. This can make the engineers' jobs very difficult.
Effect: All repair attempts on this particular system suffer +4 to the TN. This flaw can be taken multiple times, for the same system and for other ones.

I never realised, that you had come up with another version. I have just re-read the first Titan novel (this time the german translation, have been given a german review copy of it) and came back to this thread. Started a major new Trek phase with me

I have even been given a Star Trek Enterprise 1.1 DVD package for christmas and shall take a look at the one and only Trek I have little to no experience with
