Sounds like good news to me, Don.
Just so I'm clear, this means trekrpg.net will become a Coda-only site, correct? Will the forums be Coda-only as well?

Don - any idea as to a time-table for the transfer?
Don has already transferred the content to me, and I'm feverishly working away on editing it for the new site. I hope to have some of it (probably SpaceDock materials first) up this weekend. The materials is still, as of right now, still up on TrekRPG.Net, but I'm not sure what Don's timetable is for taking it down.

Gawd I hope not. A coda-only forum would be So Very Bad.
This is Don's site. He pays the bills. In my view, that gives him the right to decide what he puts here. I think he did ICON and FASA players a big favor finding a place for that material -- and kudos to Owen for building a site (which I have added to my favorites) for it. He could have dropped the stuff on the floor.Originally posted by StyroFoam Man
All systems/all ideas should be welcome.
I agree. Turning this into a CODA-only situation might mean more stuff for us down the line. I seem to recall Don talking about potentially big things in store for the site in conjunction with Decipher. Clearing out all the non-Decipher, non-Coda material may be paving the road for that.Originally posted by Fesarius

Just a guess.

And I guess you find the possibale input of other narrators from other games useless as well. Check your words mister.
I think maybe we're one step closer to Trek-RPG.net becoming an official Decipher site. (Of course I have been know to be wrong.)
Take a look at this from the Decipher message boards http://calder.decipher.com/cgi-bin/m...$27495-18655$1

Hey guys!
Don Mappin runs TrekRPGnet. Don was one of the designers of CODA, wrote the Starship Construction section of the NG and most of the Starships book.
We've been working with Don for the past few months in an attempt to get a new, official, Decipher RPG site up that would have all the functionality of this site, all the functionality of TrekRPGnet, and more. Don's a contractor, though, and there are Legal issues with us using a third party to do all this stuff, especially with licensed material. I think we're close to having something worked out and hope to have something to show everyone by early May.
Stay tuned, gentle reader!

How is that relevant? That's a serious question, and not an attempt to (further) irritate you. ICON is a fine system, but it is not the currently published system. When the site was started, it was, so it made sense that ICON material would be present. Now, it is not. Perhaps it no longer makes sense for ICON material to be present. That's a judgement call made in conjunction with other inputs, by the site's owner.Originally posted by Eric R.

Read my previous post, and you will see that I've already bookmarked Owen's site. That would suggest that I *do* like reading the ICON material, and do have a use for it. You can guess whatever you like -- but if you want it to be an educated guess, you should base it on statements I have actually made.
I like this a lot.Never played ICON Trek but you'd think the players of that game would be happy to have all of the ICON stuff on its own site.I fully realize CODA is still kind of a fledgeling game but have felt that we (the CODA players) have been kept in the basement by only having space on the Forums.Don't hit me with the pain stick for saying this- I respect ICON and its players, I just got on the Trek RPG boat a little late.
Am I correct in assuming this change is going to take about a month?

Owen: Will your site have a forum?
Don: If this is to save space, will non RPG discussion still be welcome here?
Ditto for me.Originally posted by Lowly Uhlan

Although....
I find it rather sad that essentially ICON/FASA users and CODA users are going to be segregated (for want of a better word) by using two different sites. Why would those who still use ICON/FASA want to use this trek-rpg.net site if there is nothing of use for them there?
I feel that those players of the ICON/FASA system will be missed by those of us who have only ever used CODA. They have so much more experience to share with the newer users especially on plot ideas and roleplaying tips and advice in the star trek universe.
I hope that the ICON/FASA users continue to use the forums at least. Otherwise I'd feel like my mentor's have walked out on me and then wehere would I go to obtain my plot ideas?
